health and sanitation
We have realised that when people are healthy, they are better placed in advancement of their empowerment drive. So we made thrives in advocating for personal and environmental hygiene. We constructed an indigenous hand washing facility called Tippy-Tap for the pupils of some selected schools in the Kumbungu district to serve as a hand washing system for healthy living. We also organised clean up exercise for schools for environmental health. Assessing the health situation in some selected communities, Hepatitis B was seen as a major disease killing many which was mostly viewed as a witch craft by community members. So we mobilised the Mbanaayili community and carried out advocacy and Hepatitis B screening as a way of campaigning against the disease. ment.
LIVELIHOOD and women empowerment
The project is championing the empowerment of women by sensitising them, building their capacities and competencies on entrepreneurship in Kpilo and Dalun in the Kumbungu district of Ghana. This is on-going and will be improved by conducting more specific skills and entrepreneurship trainings which will equip them with the necessary skills and experience to manage their own businesses. GP4All-Ghana also sensititised women in Kumbungu, Bogu Palgu, Kpilo to form village savings and loan associations (VSLA) as a way of inculcating the culture of savings and raising capital for their business. GP4All-Ghana has established fifteen (15) VSLAs in collaboration with our local partner, Grassroot Organisation for Livelihood Development (GOLD) in the Kumbungu district. We currently organize weekly meetings for its members to do their savings, take loans, share ideas and experiences on entrepreneurship.
agriculture and climate change
GP4All-Ghana established enterprise garden/farm in Mba naayili and kpilo as an agriculture resource centre to advocate for students and youth active participation in agriculture. Basic agronomic practices in vegetable and rice production were thought. Students and youth were educated to think agriculture as a life sustaining and business venture and not as a punishment. We have also trained farmers on improved methods of crop cultivation and postharvest management. We hope to reach out to many farmers in the coming years to help improve farmers output in order to contribute to global food security and archiving the sustainable development goals.
